The Transplantation Society serves as the principal international forum for the advancement of both basic and clinical transplantation science throughout the world. Since its founding 34 years ago, the Society’s history has closely paralleled the development of organ transplantation to its current status.
The Society currently has over 3,000 members from 65 countries. Among its present and former members are six Nobel Laureates. In addition, the Society biennially awards the
Medawar Prize, which is recognized as the world’s highest dedicated award for outstanding contributions in the field of transplantation.
